Now that I'm level-headed again, I'm starting to tire of Paris, or it's better to say, of this idle boulevard life. I'm very happy to be leaving for Clarens tomorrow. You'll be surprised that I stayed here so long. The reason for this is that I found it imprudent to drag Kotik with me to Switzerland, only to part from him again two days later. By mutual agreement, we chose to stay here a few extra days so that tomorrow we can go our separate ways.

Modya! The first time I saw "Le fils naturel", and the second time "Les Fourchambaults". I was expected to enjoy the latter in a similar way to "Le gendre de Monsieur Poirier", and I was very much mistaken. It was most interesting. Got is also in the main role, but generally there's no comparison between the brilliantly created Poirier and the role of Bernard in "Fourchambaults", in which he's an incredibly noble young man<del style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">, </del>who receives a slap at the end of the play. What I wouldn't give for the hand which inflicts the insult on Got to slap me a hundred times every day! This hand belongs to the divine being whom both you and I admired in that memorable performance in 1876. His surname is Boucher. Do you remember him? What a charming personality he has! And what a wonderful actor he turned out to be! I'm so happy that I saw him in both plays. In "Fils naturel" he played Worms, and wonderfully. It's remarkable that both these comedies are based upon the same story. In both, illegitimate sons live with their mothers and learn from them who their father is, and then a series of complications ensues, in which they are wonderful sons to both parents. It's also curious that in both plays the roles of mother are played by actresses in their first jeune roles. In the first play, the mother is played by Favart, in the second, Agar. I shall keep the most poetic memories of both productions thanks to Boucher. What a voice, what a smile, what movements, gait, gestures!

I've been twice to the Comédie Française. I'm still in Paris. This hasn't been a particularly successful visit to Paris. At first, as a consequence of the unpleasant news, I wasn't in good spirits, reacting exaggeratedly as usual to the tragedy of my really quite fortunate situation, and nothing made me happy because of this. </ins>

The first time I saw "Le fils naturel", and the second time "Les Fourchambaults". I was expected to enjoy the latter in a similar way to "Le gendre de Monsieur Poirier", and I was very much mistaken. It was most interesting. Got is also in the main role, but generally there's no comparison between the brilliantly created Poirier and the role of Bernard in "Fourchambaults", in which he's an incredibly noble young man, who receives a slap at the end of the play. What a voice, what a smile, what movements, gait, gestures!</ins>

Kotik doesn't particularly enjoy it. He's fallen head over heels for some girl, and nothing except the object of his affection interests him. I hope to find a letter from you in Clarens. I kiss you and Kolya.</ins>
