Я имел большой разговор с Таней, в коем деликатно дал ей почувствовать, что она слишком много прислушивается к себе и слишком мало думает о матери. Кажется, это имело на неё хорошее влияние. Вот уже два дня, что она, видимо, старается победить всё свои неопределённые нервничания, и Саша расцвела тотчас же. Теперь ожидают Веру и Анну. Я пописываю свою всенощную, и дело идёт довольно быстро. Но кажется, что моё творчество сильно поугасло, и я не чувствую ни малейшего поползновения творить. Впрочем, иногда подумываю об опере. О Модесте имею мало сведений, пишет редко и мало, но здоров и наслаждается деревней.

Получил ли ты деньги? Хватило ли на заткнутие главных дыр? Целую крепко.
