Друг мой! Я только что тебе отправил моё ''трио''. Прежде чем его гравировать, необходимо, чтобы его проиграли Танеев, Гржимали и Фитценхаген, и попроси их об этом от меня. Cepreй Иванович может сыграть и по моей рукописи; итак, прикажи переписать лишь скрипичную и виолончельную партии. Я весьма бы желал, чтобы ''Карлуша, Кашкин, Губерт'' с женой и вообще все ''наши'' были при этом пробном исполнении. ''Совершенно необходимо'', чтобы Карлуша или другой знаток по части смычковых инструментов обратил внимание на мои ''смычковые'' обозначения и исправил то, что не годится. Впрочем, это можно будет сделать в тот же вечер, когда трио будет играться. Пусть Гржимали и Фитценхаген отметят те изменения в обозначении ''смычков''. какие ими будут признанынужными. Убедительно их прошу об этом.

Трио это посвящаю Никол[аю] Григ[орьевичу]. Оно имеет несколько плачущий и погребальный колорит. Весьма хотелось бы, чтобы в качестве пиэсы, написанной в память Н[иколай] Г[ригорьевича], оно было издано роскошно. Попроси Танеева чтобы, играя трио, он бы в точности держался метрономнческих моих отметок. Я желаю, чтобы первым исполнителем трио в будущем сезоне был Серг[ей] Ив[анович].
