Уж, кажется, трудно придумать более поганого места, чем Каменка, и всё-таки это деревня, и этого достаточно, чтобы я хорошо себя чувствовал. Говорю об этом, чтобы ты видела, что я в самом деле умно делаю, что хочу себе собственное гнёздышко завести. И в самом деле, я более чем когда-либо об этом думаю. Пожалуйста, милые мои детки, если что услышите, дайте знать или даже, если близко, посмотрите. Сначала я здесь застал несносную, холодную погоду с невыносимым ветром, мешавшим ''даже мне'' гулять. Но вот уж третий день наступила хорошая весенняя погода, и я очень ею наслаждаюсь. С утра ухожу в лес (Тростянку) и там сижу до самого обеда, собираю фиалки, любуюсь проснувшимися насекомыми, птичками и вообще предаюсь наслаждению природой. При этом записываю кое-какие мысли для будущего большого симфонического сочинения и, совершенно довольный собой, возвращаюсь к обеду домой. Обедаем с Левой вдвоём. Потом читаю, играю, немножко пописываю, пью чай, гуляю, в 8 часов ужинаю; потом всегда партия в винт и часов в 12 ложусь с приятным сознанием, что на другой день не предстоит ни принимать гостей, ни идти в гости. Одно только неприятно, что так далеко от вас, моих милых, но зато, когда приобрету имение под Москвой, всегда буду близко от Вас. Мне почему-то кажется, что вы останетесь в Москве. Во всяком случае ''летом я у вас буду''. Лева вчера уехал на 2 дня в Елизаветград на ярмарку. На днях ждут Сашу. Старушки Давыдовы процветают. Жду с нетерпением письмеца; обнимаю Вас наикрепчайшим образом обоих, а также Танюшу нежно целую.
