Вчера Софья Ив[ановна] поручила мне составить от неё и от себя поздравительную телеграмму, но я тотчас после её ухода лёг спать и проспал до вечера, а потом уж было поздно. Я и думать не могу выходить. Очень бы желал, чтобы вы сегодня вечером приехали повинтить и проиграть 4-ручное переложение двух последних частей «Манфреда» с поправками Балакирева. Если не можете быть, дайте городскую депешу, но очень рад был бы, чтобы вы приехали.

Yesterday [[Sofiya Ivanovna|Sofya Ivanovna]] told me to send a congratulatory telegram from her and myself, but as soon as she left I went to bed and slept until the evening, and then it was too late. I can't think about going out. I should very much like you to come over tonight and to play through the 4-hand arrangement of the last two movements of "[[Manfred]]" with [[Balakirev]]'s alterations. If this isn't possible, send a dispatch from town, but I should be very glad if you came.
