	Now I'll tell you the story of my departure. We (i.e. me, [[Tolya]], [[Panya]] and Kolya Pereslni) left [[Tiflis]] on the morning of the 29th. A crowd saw me off. The journey was very pleasant until that same evening. The Suram pass is very beautiful. We arrived at 11 o'clock in the evening, and, to our horror, all the hotels were taken. We asked everywhere, and finally, out of mercy, we were allowed into the ''Hôtel Imperial'', where we somehow spent the night. ''[[Batum]]'' is situated in an excellent location, with grandiose, forest-covered mountains in the front, and snowy ones behind. The sea is blue, the vegetation almost tropical. We spent a painful day, because everyone was fretting about the imminent parting of ways. But it was especially remarkable to see how upset [[Panya]] was; for the last few days she had already started to cry, and then she behaved as though I'd been sentenced to death. There was another unpleasant incident just before I left. [[Tolya]], God knows why, made a terrible scene with [[Aleksey]], even starting a scuffle. We sat on the ship for 3 hours in the most tormented state of mind...		Now I'll tell you the story of my departure. ''Батум'' находится в великолепнейшем местоположении; на первом плане грациозные, покрытые лесом горы, на заднем — снежные. Море голубое, растительность почти тропическая. День провели мучителыю, ибо всем было жутко по поводу предстоявшей разлуки. Нo особенно замечательна горесть Пани, которая уж за несколько дней начала плакать, а тут держала себя так, как будто я приговорён к смерти. ~~ещё~~ случилась пренеприятная история перед самым отъездом. 			Today there was a stop in the morning for 3 hours, and now we are at a standstill again. The weather continues to be better than could ever be expected. In general, conditions for swimming are quite propitious, but several times a day I've been overcome by a terrible homesickness. You might even say that it didn't leave me for a moment, and I only made it through breakfast and dinner thanks to the wine. Сегодня была остановка утром часа на 3, и теперь опять стоим. Погода продолжает быть такой, что лучшей и ждать нельзя. Вообще плаванье вполне благополучно, но несколько раз в день на меня находила страшная тоска. Даже можно сказать, что она не оставляла меня ни на минуту и только за завтраком и обедом проходила, благодаря вину. Хорошо, что Алёша со мной; его присутствие имеет для меня огромную цену. Заход солнца был такой, что ты бы с ума сошёл от восторга.
