	I have just received my [[Six Romances, Op. 16\|romances]] and am hastening to write you these lines in order to strenuously and earnestly request you to ''immediately'' sequester, i.e. to withdraw, the copies of these romances that have already been distributed, since they contain horrendous ''printing errors''. Looking through them hurriedly I managed to see several musical and one ~~textural~~ error, sufficient to completely ruin the whole work. ~~The~~ best romance (in my opinion), No. 5, on page 4, the word ''binge'' has been printed instead of the word ''reproach'', which made me shudder. Только что получил мои романсы и спешу тебе написать эти строки, чтобы усиленно и усердно просить тебя ''немедленно'' секвестровать, т. е. отобрать, уже розданные экземпляры этих романсов, так как в них встречаются ужасающие ''опечатки''. Я посмотрел наскоро и успел увидеть несколько музыкальных и одну литературную ошибку, достаточную, чтобы совершенно утопить все сочинение. В самом (по моему мнению) лучшем романсе, № 5, на стр. 4, вместо слова ''коришь'' напечатано слово ''кутишь'', заставившее меня, содрогнуться.

Умоляю тебя немедленно секвестровать все экземпляры и сделать тщательную корректуру, которую, если хочешь, я приму на себя. Об убытке, который ты от этого потерпишь, не стоит и говорить, и я с удовольствием приму его на себя. Дело в том, что я очень рассчитывал на успех № 5. но слово ''кутишь'' уничтожает всякую возможность успеха. Ради Бога, отнесись к этому серьёзно, как, по-видимому, ни мелочна{{*}} причина, заставляющая меня обратиться к тебе с этой просьбой.
