The celebration was unimportant compared with last year: all the [[Kondratyev]]s and two of the Von Wiesens dined with me. The weather was bad, and we had to stay in our rooms. I am very pleased with my trip, but even more glad to be back home. It is good to now have my delightful little corner here, but then I cannot even show my nose in the park — it's so crowded with summer residents constantly strolling around or playing croquet. There are far more of them now than last year. I see the [[Kondratyev]]s every day. Everything is the same with them: [[Nikolay Kondratyev\|Nikolay Dmitryevich]] is just as capricious, just as impatiently waiting to leave as last year (he and the owner ~~recently~~ had a major quarrel not so long ago, and Madame Novikova no longer visits them). Торжество было сравнительно с прошлым годом неважное: обедали у меня все Кондратьевы и двое фон-Визиных. Погода была дурная, и пришлось сидеть в комнатах. Я очень доволен своим путешествием но ещё более рад возвращению восвояси. У меня теперь прелесть как хорошо в моем маленьком уголке, но зато в парк нельзя почти носу показать, — до того он переполнен непрестанно гуляющими или играющими в крокет дачниками. Их нынче гораздо больше, чем в прошлом году. С Кондратьевыми вижусь ежедневно. У них все то же: Н[иколай] Д[митриевич] так же капризничает, так же нетерпеливо ожидает отъезда, как и в прошлом году (у них с хозяйкой произошла недавно крупная ссора, и M[ada]me Новикова больше не посещает их).
