	The day after your departure I went to [[Moscow]]. I had lunch at the station; from there I went directly to the Conservatory for the service and the reading of the report (as well as a speech in honour of ''[[Liszt]]'', delivered by ''[[Kashkin]]''). The weather was so exceptionally wonderful that, without waiting for the end of these celebrations, I went to the Butryskaya turnpike, seated myself in a ''steam'' tram (a delightful thing!), and found myself in ''Petrovsko-Razumovskoye''. Next time you are in [[Moscow]] in the summer, I'll certainly take you to ''Petrovsko-Razumovskoye''. You can't imagine what a delight it is! I experienced the quiet, solemn delight that is familiar to you, which happens when the soul is fully opened to the perception of impressions from the beauty of nature. I haven't enjoyed it to such an extent in ages. And importantly, there was no one to disturb my solitude in this astonishing park, which little by little turns into a wood, and what a wood! Then there was a dinner in [[Jurgenson]]'s honour at the "Hermitage". There were endless speeches which were, in essence, deadly boring. Then I caroused in company: with Lentovsky at the "Hermitage", and, again when we had supper at a tavern. I spent the whole of the following day in [[Moscow]] as well. There was a meeting of the committee at the ''Synodal'' office, of which I am a member; besides this, I also attended a meeting of the Choral Society. After this, ''[[Georgy Catoire\|Catoire's]]'' quartet was played in [[Jurgenson]]'s store, with ''[[~~Tanyev~~]] and [[Hubert]]''. Like me, they (particularly [[Taneyev]]) are absolutely delighted at how talented he is. I wanted to renew the previous day's delight, and went alone to the wood between the park and ''Petrovsko-Razumovskoye''. It was pleasant, but not as much as the day before. I didn't have dinner at all that day, and in the evening I went to a performance of "''Ruslan''" in a box with the [[Hubert]]s and Sasha Gudim. It was very nice. Then we had supper. How sorry I am that Gudim is forsaking [[Moscow]] and settling in the country. He'll be in [[Piter]]. You will see him. I stayed with the [[Jurgenson]]s during this visit. 	Модинька! Очень пусто и тоскливо было после твоего отъезда. Но сегодня, возвратившись из Москвы, я особенно сильно ощущаю опустелость своего домика. Пишу тебе как раз в тот час, когда мы все пятеро (т. е. считая ''Зай и Буль'') сидели перед ужином в моем кабинете. Очень грустно. Но, впрочем, со временем все это сглаживается.		Модинька! Погода была столь необыкновенно чудная, что я, не дождавшись конца всех этих торжеств, поехал к Бутырской заставе, сел там на ''паровую'' конку (прелестная вещь!) и очутился в ''Петровско-Разумовском''. В следующий раз, когда ты будешь в Москве летом, я непременно свезу тебя в ''Петровско-Разумовское''. Ты не можешь себе представить, что это за прелесть! Я испытал хорошо и тебе знакомый тихий, торжественный восторг, который является, когда душа вполне открывается для восприятия впечатлений от красоты природы. Давно в такой степени я не наслаждался. И главное, что никто не тревожил моего одиночества в этом удивительно , парке, который мало-помалу переходит в лес, да в какой лес! Потом был обед в честь Юргенсона п «Эрмитаже». Спичи без конца, и, в сущности, скука смертельная. Потом в компании кутил: был в «Эрмитаже» Лентовского, и опять ужинали в трактире. Весь следующий день я провёл тоже в Москве. Происходило заседание комитета при ''Синодальной'' конторе, коего я состою членом; да кроме того, в Хоровом обществе тоже присутствовал на заседании. За сим у Юргенсона в магазине при ''Танееве и Губерте'' был сыгран квартет ''Катуара''. Они, как и я (особенно Танеев), в совершенном восторге от его талантливости. Хотел возобновить вчерашний восторг и поехал один [в] лес между парком и ''Петровским-Разумовским''. Было приятно, но уж не так, как накануне.
