''Второе действие у меня готово''. Я отправил его сегодня с Кашкиным ''А. И. Губерт'', которая должна вписать в партитуру ''пение''. Она сделает это скоро. А ты потрудись немедленно ей доставить печатный экземпляр «''Чародейки''», с которого она будет списывать. Мне тоже ''очень нужен бы один экземпляр, пожалуйста пришли поскорее''. Я здесь остаюсь ещё по крайней мере полторы недели и надеюсь ещё хоть половину одного действия инструментовать. Вообще если буду жив и здоров, думаю кончить партитуру около половины ''июня''. На Кавказ поеду, вероятно, около 20 числа нынешнего месяца и там буду доканчивать инструментовку.

Насчёт гонорара за «''Чародейку''» не знаю что тебе сказать. Хотелось бы побольше, а с другой стороны, не хочется очень обирать тебя. Во всяком случае я думаю, что мне нужно за неё больше, чем за последнюю оперу, т. е. за «Мазепу». Когда буду в Москве, поговорим об этом.

У меня тут прогостил несколько дней Кашкин. С Танеевым часто видался. От работы я ужасно устал! И Боже мой! сколько ещё мне предстоит!!!

Хорошо бы тебе собраться с Губертами и с Соф[ьей] Ив[ановной] и приехать ко мне ну хоть в будущее воскресенье!
