1) Партитуру я возвращу тебе в самом скором времени; Савин не особенно пострадает оттого, что голоса на несколько дней опоздают.

2) Предисловие к «Моцартьяне» надо перевести на ''оба языка''. Я забыл тебе сказать, что если уже не получена, то на днях должна быть получена тобой партитура отрывков из оперы «''Руфь''» Ипполитова-Иванова. Я ''непременно желаю, чтобы эти отрывки были исполнены у нас в этом сезоне'', ибо дал слово Иванову. Дело в том, что тут нет никакого лицеприятия, ибо вещь эта ''восхитительная'' и Ипполитова-Иванова непременно нужно поощрить. Итак, попроси от моего имени ''Макса'', чтобы он исключил лучше что-нибудь моё или другое из предположенных программ, но непременно исполнил Иванова. Пусть помешает предположенному ''моему'' концерту, но во что бы то ни стало хочу добиться исполнения моей просьбы.

Не знаю, что тебе сказать насчёт гонорара за две мои штуки. Ты назначь сам, и если я найду, что мало, то откровенно скажу. Моё положение в отношении «''Моцартьяны''» очень щекотливо, ибо не могу же я получить много денег за то, что Моцарт был гений, а с другой стороны труд мой чего-нибудь да стоит.

Об ''Фридрихе'' и вообще Западной Европе поговорим при свидании.

Вчера репетиция шла ''отвратительно'', и я начинаю бояться, что «''Чародейку''» отложат. Воскресенье буду телеграфировать.

1) I'll return the score to you as soon as possible; Savin won't be especially bothered by the parts being a few days late.

2) The foreword to "[[Mozartiana]]" must be presented in ''both languages''. I forgot to tell you that, if you haven't already received it, then in a day or two you should be receiving the score of excerpts from [[Ippolitov-Ivanov]]'s opera "''Ruth''". I ''absolutely want us to perform these excerpts this season'', because I gave [[Ippolitov-Ivanov|Ivanov]] my word. This isn't partiality; the fact is that this is a ''delightful'' thing, and [[Ippolitov-Ivanov]] must certainly be encouraged. Therefore, ask ''[[Max]]'' on my behalf to exclude something or other of mine from the proposed programme, but to play [[Ippolitov-Ivanov|Ivanov]] without fail. Let him meddle in ''my'' concert, but I want him to carry out my requests at all costs.

I don't know what to tell you regarding the fees for my two trifles. Decide it yourself, and if I conclude it's too little then I'll say so frankly.
