Милый друг! Оказывается, что я не только праздную именины, но даже с особой торжественностью. Гостей будет масса в том числе Печковские (муж, жена и двое старших сыновей). Поэтому мне очень будет приятно, если ты и Наталья Николаевна тоже будете. Впрочем, по случаю именин я должен ехать в Москву. Буду там в четверг утром и назначаю тебе ''rendezvous'' у Лопашева в 11½. Принеси, пожалуйста, с собой 200 р[ублей] сер[ебром], которые мне по случаю торжества надобны. Ради Бога, достань мне к этому завтраку ''Кашкина и Карлушу''. Мне очень нужно их обоих видеть. Если ты получишь это письмо уже после 29-го (я ведь не знаю, надолго ли ты поехал), то, во 1-х, буду очень сожалеть, что тебя не было, а во 2-х, знай, что я возьму у Павла Ивановича (если он только мне их даст) 200 р[ублей] сер[ебром]. Если по приезде в Москву я узнаю, что ты ещё не скоро вернёшься, то напишу Наталье Николаевне отдельное приглашение. Полагаю, что ей приятно будет быть с родными.<br />

There will be a mass of guests, including the Pechkovskys (the husband, wife and two eldest sons). Therefore I will be very pleased if you and Natalya Nikolayevna will also be there. Anyway, on my name-day I have to go to [[Moscow]]. I'll be there on Thursday morning and will arrange for you to ''rendezvous'' at the Lopashevs' at 11.30. Please bring with you 200 silver rubles, which I need for the celebrations. For God's sake, sort out lunch for me with ''[[Kashkin]] and [[Karlusha]]''. I really need to see them both.
