1) Пришли мне, милый друг, экземпляр «''Пиковой дамы''». Я должен внести в него разные отметки и поправки до отъезда своего. Экземпляр этот оставлю тебе для передачи ''Зилоти'', который в ''свою очередь'' сделал обстоятельную корректуру. Он внесёт мои поправки в свой экземпляр, и тогда у тебя будет в руках безусловно верная редакция. Кстати, скажи мне следующее. ''Фигнер'' не может петь в настоящем тоне своё ''brindisi'' в последней картине. Придётся транспонировать на целый тон, а для этого сделать маленькую модуляцию. Так как, по всей вероятности, и другие тенора будут находить, что это ''brindisi'' слишком высоко, то не поставить ли в клавираусцуге в том месте, где перемена, отметку, что при исполнении оперы в Мар[иинском] театре тут поступают так-то, а затем в конце клавираусцуга напечатать в виде дополнения это ''brindisi'' с приделанною модуляциею в том тоне, как будет петь Фигнер. Так делают французы, напр[имер] в «''Ascanio''» у Сен-Санса.

2) Потрудись, пожалуйста, послать 50 р[ублей] сер[ебром] в конверте ''Анне Яковлевне Александровой на Малую Никитскую'', дом Мейснера, кв[артире] № 5. Пожалуйста, сейчас же.

Все экземпляры «''Пиковой дамы''», которые требую и вероятно, буду ещё требовать, пусть вносят мне в счёт.

1) Dear friend, send me a copy of "''[[The Queen of Spades]]''". I must make insert notes and corrections to it before my departure. I'll leave this copy for you to pass on to ''[[Ziloti]]'', whom in ''his turn'' has done the proofs thoroughly. He will insert my amendments in his copy, and then you will have in your hands an absolutely correct version. Incidentally, tell me the following. ''[[Figner]]'' cannot sing the ''brindisi'' in the last scene in its present key. It will be have to be transposed a whole tone, and this requires a little modulation <ref name="note1"/>. Since, in all probability, other tenors will find that this ''brindisi'' is too high, is it possible to insert a note at that place in the piano reduction, that when performing the opera at the Mariinsky Theatre it was done differently, and then at the end of the piano reduction to print this ''brindisi'' in the form of an appendix transposed by a tone, as [[Figner]] will be singing it.
