Партитуру Вашу я прочёл внимательно и сейчас выскажу Вам моё откровенное о ней мнение. Вы отличный музыкант. Техника Ваша прекрасна (хотя в оркестровке я нахожу некоторую излишнюю густоту красок). Нет ни единого местечка, которое бы хоть сколько-нибудь коробило меня. Все гладко, чисто, изящно. Но у Вас покамест нет никакой индивидуальности, и как Ваше мелодическое, так и гармоническое изобретение — бледны и лишены свежести. Разумеется, я не хочу сказать, что у Вас вовсе нет серьёзного творческого дара; быть может, он впоследствии скажется весьма ощутительно. Но, судя по этой партитуре, я могу покамест лишь констатировать в Вашем музыкальном организме замечательную чуткость, чувство меры и формы, а также весьма основательную, безупречную технику. Ближе всего музыка Вашей оперы подходит к типу так называемой «''капельмейстерской музыки''». Впрочем, я не имею претензии вещать Вам безусловную истину, а только высказываю, согласно обещанию, своё вполне искреннее мнение.

Во всяком случае Вам следует продолжать писать. Если Вы и не достигнете блестящих результатов, то всё-таки можете обогатить музык[альную] литературу выдающимися произведениями.
