	Толя! Что ты, милый мой, поделываешь и отчего уж больно редко пишешь? Именно интересно знать про твои ревельские дебюты. Я же оттого редко пишу, что, во 1-х, поглощён сочинением оперы, которое идёт у меня очень вяло и скверно, а во 2-х, потому, что до сегодняшнего решительно нечего было писать. Сегодня, как увидишь, есть что. Вчера, ложась спать, я по обыкновению хотел завести свои часы (коих не ношу с собой, ибо при блузе неудобно), но оказалось, что часы исчезли. Их украли вчера, вероятно, в то время, когда я после обеда гуляю, а Алексей отдыхает в своей комнате. Взлезть в окно и украсть их было делом очень лёгким. Ужасно жаль. Послал телеграмму в сыскную полицию в Москву. А впрочем, не скажу, чтобы был убит этим печальным обстоятельством донельзя. Часа 2 погоревал, а потом мысли об опере взяли верх.		Толя! Коля Переслени прогостил у меня несколько дней. Так как он перезнакомился со всеми дачниками и целые дни проводил с {{sic|ним|ними}}, появляясь ко мне лишь во время еды, и так как он глубоко равнодушен к тому, что и как я сочиняю, то присутствие его меня не только не стесняло, но скорее доставляло удовольствие.

Толя, у меня к тебе следующая просьба. У тебя удивительное умение доставать нуждающимся людям ''места''. Не устроишь ли что-нибудь в ''Ревеле'' Легошину, камердинеру ''Н. Д. Кондратьева''? Ты, вероятно, его помнишь. По душевным качествам и уму это очень светлая и выдающаяся личность. Он очень просил меня ходатайствовать перед тобой о доставлении ему места.

Опера моя, как я сказал выше, идёт у меня туго. Не тронусь отсюда, пока её не кончу. Пожалуйста, напиши, как поживаешь и как себя чувствуешь.
