Интересно знать, как Паня переехала в Ревель, как вы устроились, как живете и как ей нравится Ревель. ''Боб'' говорил мне, что ты был в Петербурге очень весёлый, и это меня ужасно порадовало. Досадно мне было, что Паня так недолго дала на себя посмотреть. Ну, Бог даст, я в Ревель попаду, хотя и не знаю когда. Свободу моих передвижений стесняют теперь не только мои работы, не только надобность бывать часто в Москве по поводу скоро уже предполагаемой в Москве к постановке «''Пиковой дамы''», но также и страшное безденежье. Нужно подождать, чтобы в театрах набралось для меня денег, а тут как нарочно то умирает бедненькая великая княгиня, то заболевают артисты, и «''Онегина''» ни в Петербурге, ни в Москве не дают. Впрочем, есть полное основание надеяться, что доходов с театра будет у меня в этом сезоне много.

Кончил свою симфоническую ''балладу'' «''Воевода''». Очень доволен ею. Непременно нужно, чтобы ты приехал к тому концерту ''Муз[ыкального] общ[ества] '' в Петербурге, которым я буду дирижировать. Это будет в ноябре.

''Ларош'' гостит у меня; спит, ест, играет со мной в 4 руки — и больше ничего.

Теперь принимаюсь за инструментовку оперы. Погода у нас просто божественная. Ларош просит поклониться. Крепка тебя обнимаю. Целую Панины и Татины ручки.
