За указание ошибки в «''Иоланте''» очень благодарен. Я таковых нашёл ещё ''огромное множество''!!! Черт знает что! Ни сам я не корректор, — да и решительно никто не может помочь мне в этом деле! Ни на кого положиться нельзя. Теперь я погружен в корректуры партитур «Иоланты» и «Щелкун[чик]а». Что за мука! Сегодня над двумя страницами провёл целый вечер, — до того мне напутали!!! Пока не кончу главного, т. е. ''первых'' корректур, — не могу двинуться. Главное оттого, что дело спешное, а мне беспрестанно нужно иметь общение с гравёрами Юргенсона. И не только письменно, но и лично приходится распутывать недоразумения. Тем не менее я всё-таки надеюсь побывать в Селище, разумеется, ''до'' твоего отъезда оттуда.

Очень расстроила меня смерть ''С. М. Третьякова'', которого ещё так недавно видел в цветущем здоровье в Петербурге не более 3-х ½ недель тому назад. Я был на его похоронах.

Симфония не подвигается.

Итак, я надеюсь вскоре увидаться с тобой в Селище. Спасибо за указания, как ехать.
