Наконец после трёхмесячного шатанья вчера вечером я вернулся домой. В числе 30 (!!!) писем, ожидавших меня здесь, я нашёл и твоё. Ты не рассердишься, голубчик, если на этот раз я ограничусь лишь несколькими словами, ибо мне нужно написать сразу слишком много ответных писем и сил не хватит, дабы побеседовать по душе.

О твоём переходе в Москву я уже знал. Конечно, я радуюсь, что я тебя и Варвару Михайловну буду видеть чаще, но... как тебе сказать? Мне всё-таки как-то жаль тебя и её. Вы так славно и привольно жили в моем милом Тифлисе!!!

Впрочем, посмотрим, быть может, все к лучшему!! Во всяком случае, повторяю, приятно сознавать близость к вам, да, наконец, нельзя за тебя не порадоваться, что ты перестанешь быть так одинок в смысле общения с музыкой и музыкантами.

Я написал вчерне новую симфонию и новый фортепиан[ный] концерт. Завтра принимаюсь за инструментовку.

Каков Сафонов! Выхлопотал от царя 400 тысяч!!! Этой стороной его деятельности нельзя не восхищаться. Да и вообще как администратор он молодец.

Целую ручку Варв[ары] Мих[айловны], тебя обнимаю, Тане поцелуй и Анне Михайловне поклон.
