They eat with a ''knife'', but are wealthily dressed. I don't understand it. How cold it is here after [[Florence]]! Altogether wintry. But the mountains are extraordinarily beautiful in the snow. The weather is grey; somehow uncanny and heavy on my heart after [[Florence]]'s dazzling splendour. But then how quiet it is here; how wonderfully fine our rooms are, how delicious the dinner, how sweet is Marie! By the way, she calls you Monsieur Anatole, talks about you incessantly, and bows to you. A wonderful girl!
