In 1876, Borisov graduated from the [[Saint Petersburg]] Conservatory, and gave recitals in [[Kharkov]], [[Kiev]], [[Odessa]] and other Russian cities, as well as in England and Italy. From 1882 he was an artist at the Bolshoi Theatre in [[Moscow]], where he premiered the role of Kochubey in Tchaikovsky's ''[[Mazepa]]'' in 1884.
