==Tchaikovsky in Rouen==<br />
Tchaikovsky stayed in Rouen from 25 March/6 April to 3/15 April 1891. Work on his opera ''[[Iolanta]]'' and the ballet ''[[The Nutcracker]]'' did not allow much time for sightseeing. "Regarding Rouen, there is nothing to say because I saw nothing, besides the art museum, which I liked very much" <ref name="note1"/>.<br />

After visiting [[Paris]], where he learned of the death of his sister [[Aleksandra Davydova|Aleksandra]], Tchaikovsky returned to Rouen on 5/17 April accompanied by [[Vasily Sapelnikov]], [[Sophie Menter]], and [[Yuly Konyus]]. He spent one more night "in loathsome Rouen" <ref name="note2"/>, before leaving for [[Le Havre]], and on to [[New York]].<br />
