13 февр[ал я] 1886 г[ода] с[ело] Майданово Модя! Масленица так расположилась, что в понедельник я должен быть на торжественном обеде в честь Рубинштейна у Танеева, а вечером на духовно-музыкальном вечере мною же устроенном в зале Консерватории (этот затеянный мной вечер, на коем будут исполняться мои новые сочинения для церкви, а также вещи Корсакова, Азеева и др[угих], обратился в целое событие; будут 3 архиерея, Антон Рубинштейн и т. д.), во вторник концерт Рубинштейна, на коем он желает, чтобы я был; в среду прощальный oбeд-monstre у Третьякова в честь Рубинштейна же. Таким образом, лишь в четверг я могу выехать к себе или в Питер. Не могу ещё решить, прямо ли в Питер ехать или погостить в Майданове несколько времени. Не расположен ли ты провести последние три дни масленицы у меня (один, без мальчиков). На эту мысль меня навёл Ларош, который очень желает тебя видеть и тоже провести эти несколько дней у меня. Что касается 11-го марта, т. е. «Манфреда», то ты можешь ещё раз приехать (конечно, с моей денежной помощью), тем более что 12 я уезжаю на Кавказ и ты бы проводил меня. Мне бы хотелось, чтобы ты видел мой домик зимой. Алёша тоже очень мечтает тебя видеть. Я же всё-таки должен съездить в Питер, между прочим для обстоятельных переговоров об Ж[орже] с Ольгой Сергеевной, и полагаю, что на первой неделе всего бы удобнее. Обдумай и отвечай! Обнимаю, целую. 13 February 1886 Maydanovo village Modya! The arrangements for Shrovetide are that on Monday I have to be at a gala dinner at Taneyev's in honour of Rubinstein, and in the evening at an soirée of church music organised by me in the Conservatory hall; this soirée (an initiative of mine at which my new compositions for the church will be performed, as well as things by Korsakov, Azeyev and others) has turned into a whole event; there will be 3 bishops, Anton Rubinstein, etc.); on Tuesday there's Rubinstein's concert, which he wants me to attend; on Wednesday there will be a farewell monstre dinner at Tretyakov's in Rubinstein's honour. Therefore, it's only on Thursday that I can go home or to Piter. I still can't decide whether to go directly to Piter or to stay at Maydanovo for a while. Would you be disposed to spend the last three days of Shrovetide with me (alone, without the boys)? This idea was put to me by Laroche, who very much wants to see you, and also to spend these few days with me. As for 11th March, i.e. "Manfred", then you can come again (of course, with my financial assistance), especially since on the 12th I'm leaving for the Caucasus, and you would see me off. I should like you to see my house in winter. Alyosha also very much dreams of seeing you. All the same, I must go to Piter in the meantime for detailed negotiations with Olga Sergeyevna about Georges, and I believe that the first week would be more convenient.
