Dear Georgy Eduardovich!

In the forthcoming season I shall be conducting concerts for the Petersburg Musical Society. In the 1st or 2nd of them — thus at the end of October or the beginning of November — with your permission, I should certainly wish to perform your enchanting children's suite [1]. In view of this I need to know:

1) Whether you have in mind any alterations, additions or cuts?

2) When might I receive the full score for the study thereof? Could I have it in September?

3) Whether you could deliver to the Petersburg Musical Society in good time, i.e. no later than the end of September, the parts of the children's chorus, so that they can have time to learn them? Or would you entrust the full score to me so that I might take care of this, and all the other musical materials?

4) Regarding the orchestral parts, might I use those from Moscow? I should be terribly glad to know how you have altered the finale.

Please write as soon as possible (do not procrastinate, as is your custom) with the answers to all these questions.

I shall be terribly glad to play your charming and sweet creation.

I embrace you.

P. Tchaikovsky

I haven't written about Zhulik, Lev, your father and sister, because they've probably written to you.
