Dear Lida!

I wanted to spend today with you, in order to celebrate the New Year in person. But I had forgotten that I have classes at the Conservatory until 3 o'clock, and at 4 my cousin from the military school is coming to see me, and I promised to entertain him today. And so, I must confine myself to written wishes for every good fortune for you and your family.

I urge Petya [1] to come to see me on Monday at 3 o'clock, and to spend the day with me. If Seryozha [2] were allowed to accompany him, then I will be very grateful to you. I would like to take him and Petya to the theatre.

I kiss your hands. Regards to your husband.

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky
