Joseph Christian von Zedlitz (1790-1862)

Austrian dramatist and poet (b. 28 February 1790 at Javorník; d. 16 March 1862 in Vienna, also known as Joseph Christian Freiherr von Zedlitz or Baron von Zedlitz.

Tchaikovsky's Settings of Works by Zedlitz

Zedlitz's ballad Die nächtliche Heerschau (1827), in a Russian translation by Vasily Zhukovsky (1783-1852), was set by Tchaikovsky in his lost romance Midnight Review (Ночной парад), composed while he was a student in 1863 or 1864.
