Golubushka [[Anya]]! I absolutely couldn't write from [[Moscow]], and having arrived here, I must repay so many epistolary debts in one day that there's only time to write everyone a few words. I'm sorry, golubushka, for not sending the cards. I don't understand how this could have happened, or how on earth I lost the list of cards I'd promised!!! Sorry, sorry, sorry! I'm just sending you one for now. I'm all out of them, but I'm waiting for new ones from [[Paris]], and you again (I think for the 3rd time), sent me a list of who to send them to. [[Modya]] is here. I'll be spending all the holidays at home, on the 7th I'll go to [[Moscow]], where the daily opera rehearsals will begin again. The first performance will take place around the 15th, or rather the 18th, or even the 20th.

Won't you find it possible to come? Shall I send you a little money for the trip? Don't be embarrassed. You'll give it back one day. I should very much like you to see me waving my baton. Sorry, darling, for not writing more. By God, I can't!!!

Give Pyotr Ivanovich, Lyubov Petrovna and everyone my regards and congratulations on the New Year.
