17 May 1871

Sweetest lollipop, my heart!

I leave here around the 30th; will spend a day or two at Konotop, thence to Kiev, taking the idiot with me to Kamenka [1].

Your brother and master.

I'm writing to Adamov [2].

Notes and References

  1. Tchaikovsky met his brother Modest in Kiev, before accompanying him to their sister Aleksandra's home at Kamenka.
  2. Vladimir Stepanovich Adamov (1838-1877), departmental director at the Ministry of Justice, and the composer's old schoolfriend from the Imperial School of Jurisprudence. No letters from Tchaikovsky to Adamov have survived.
