25 September 1891 Dear Pavel Leontyevich!
I choose 23 November [1]. I will be very grateful to Auer if he conducts the soloists. I still don't know when I'll have to go to Petersburg; this depends on various circumstances which have remain undetermined. - ↑ Tchaikovsky was replying to a letter from Peterssen dated 24 September/6 October 1891, in which he was asked to choose a date to conduct at a Russian Musical Society concert in Saint Petersburg. The composer also accepted Peterssen's offer to have Leopold Auer to undertake some of the conducting duties, given Tchaikovsky's heavy workload. Ultimately, the concert was delayed until 7/19 March 1892.
