16 марта 1885 Майданово Милая Баташа! Извольте-ка в качестве адъютанта по орудовании оперы «Черевички» исполнить следующую работу. Вам нужно весь этот № переложить для фортепиано. Но все начало до первого приложения и потом далее уже есть, но штука в том, что хоры я распределил теперь иначе, и потому нельзя будет гравировать по печатному, а нужно будет по писанному Вами. Итак, Вам нужно взять тетрадь нотной бумаги и начать следующим образом: Далее Вы будете переписывать с печатного переложения, а голоса с партитуры. Когда дойдёте до приложения (*), то сами переложите его; потом, где опять старое идёт, Вам можно будет опять только переписывать печатное (а голоса с партитуры), а потом опять переложить кончик. Одним словом, весь № должен быть написан, во избежание путаницы, Вашей рукой. Когда будете перелагать 1-ое приложение (*), то советую Вам фигурацию скрипок и беготню деревянных написать на отдельной линейке маленькими нотками, а настоящим образом переложить только аккорды и басы струнных. Впрочем, как хотите, лишь бы удобно. Целую Ваши ручки! Баташа, не хотите ли взять за работу вперёд 100 р[ублей]. Может быть, Вам к празднику нужно! Прилагаю на всякий случай записочку к П.
