'''''Tbilisi''''' (თბილისი) is the capital and largest city in the nation of Georgia.

During Tchaikovsky's lifetime the city was known as '''''Tiflis''''' (Тифлис), and it was the administrative centre of the Tiflis province (Тифлисская губерния) of the Russian Empire.

Yesterday I had dinner with Izvolsky at Derviz's. He started talking about you first, and instructed me to write to you so that you wouldn't have any doubts about moving to [[Moscow]]. Manasein has your report, given to him by Motovilov, and everyone knows about it and is concerned for you. Anyway, the move won't happen until December. Initially you will be made an investigator in the district, and then finally assigned to [[Moscow]]. Izvolsky will be looking after you, at Alferyeva's specific request. I kiss you hard.
