Dear friend!

The Kartsovs are arriving today, but I still do not know where they will be staying. I shall let you know tomorrow. My rehearsals will take place tomorrow, Monday, and on Tuesday at 9 in the morning [1].

As for Bartsal, you can count on my silence [2].

P. Tchaikovsky

Notes and References

  1. Tchaikovsky was preparing to conduct a concert of his own works given by Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Society on 5/17 March.
  2. Anton Ivanovich Bartsal (1847-1927), a Czech tenor, who from 1883 was the chief artistic director at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. The nature of the information which Tchaikovsky promised to keep secret is not known.
