Verehrter Herr Berger!

P. Tschaikowsky

Paris 28 February

Most respected Herr Berger!

I shall send you the full scores of the Serenade and Suite immediately [1]. The parts I shall bring with me. For the Suite I shall require: 1) one English horn; 2) one tuba ; 3) cymbals, bass drum, side drum, tambourine, triangle but no harp. Self-evidently the Serenade shall be played by a string orchestra. I have recommended this to you because it is exceptionally popular with the public. It has had great success wherever I have played it. Thank you very much for allowing me to perform it.

Until we meet.

Your devoted,

P. Tchaikovsky
