Turin (Torino) is a city and provincial capital in the Piedmont region of Italy.
During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it formed part of the Kingdom of Sardinia until 1861, when it was incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy, serving as its capital city from 1861 to 1865.
