Moscow, 24 November

I have received your letter. I am most grateful for your courtesy and willingness to offer me a higher fee. I will try not to lose face and to oblige you. I will be sending you the first piece shortly, and perhaps another two or three. Without any hindrances, this will be done quickly — I'm very much in the mood for working on little piano pieces [1].

Yours P. Tchaikovsky

I am keeping all your titles.

Notes and References

  1. Nikolay Bernard had commissioned Tchaikovsky to write a series of piano pieces for his monthly journal Nuvellist. These would eventually be published together under the title The Seasons.
