Notes and References

  1. Tchaikovsky was replying to a telegram dated 10/22 February 1893, in which Vasily Safonov reported that the celesta required for a performance of Tchaikovsky's suite from The Nutcracker ballet in four days' time had still not arrived from the French manufacturers (Mustel), and that he was attempting to borrow an instrument from the Imperial Theatres in Saint Petersburg.
