Town of Klin

I finally returned home last night. Now I'm writing replies to letters (more than 30 were waiting here!!!), settling down to orchestrating the symphony and, if God willing I am healthy, then it will be ready and dispatched to you no later than the end of August. Or, alternatively, I'll bring it to you myself in early September (when hopefully the whole Directorate will be meeting), and together we shall finally decide everything regarding the concerts, soloists and programmes. I'll send you an outline programme for my four concerts one day soon, but I need to give it a little more thought.

Ziloti is a good man, but first impressions can all too easily be deceptive. If I am not mistaken he imagines that you have a prejudice against him, and perhaps read something between the lines of your letter which he found offensive. Otherwise I cannot account for his reply. I'll write to him [1].

In the meantime it is settled that I'll conduct and Adele aus der Ohe will play on 16 October. I'll be performing my new symphony at this concert [2].

As for Dièmer, we'll decide when I arrive.

I embrace you, dear Pavel Leontyevich. Warm regards to all of yours.

P. Tchaikovsky
