I hope that you received my letter sent 2 weeks ago [2]. In this letter, amongst other things, I promised to send you my programme. But I still cannot decide exactly how my planned items should be scheduled. My main problem is that the question of "Paradies und Peri" [3] hasn't been settled. However, I can now list the items that I have in mind:

  1. My new symphony.
  2. Suite by G. E. Konyus "From a child's life".
  3. Suite by Sigismund Stojowski (a young and highly talented Polish composer).
  4. Overture "Carmosine" by Laroche.
  5. "The Forest" by Glazunov.
  6. Overture "Oresteya" by S. I. Taneyev.
  7. Dances from the opera "The Gypsies" by S. Rakhmaninov.
  8. Symphony in C major by Rimsky-Korsakov.
  9. Dances from "Idomeneo" by Mozart.
  10. "Vysherad", symphonic poem by Smetana.
  11. "Les Girondins" by Litolff.
  12. Extracts from the opera "Nal and Damaianti" by Arensky.

I've received a letter from Menter. She will be play the C minor by Saint-Saëns [4], and Sapelnikov, Liszt's E-flat major [5]. Owing to Menter's requirement to plan her time, and Sapelnikov's engagements, they ask to be informed as soon as possible of the dates of the concerts in which they are scheduled to participate. January would be convenient for me (one concert in October, another in November, and the remaining 2 in January). So would you be good enough, golubchik, to write to me with the dates on which my January concerts shall fall and, if possible, to Menter (her address is Schloss Itter, Station Hopfgarten, Tyrol) [6].

I embrace you.

P. Tchaikovsky
