Martin Pierre Marsick (1847-1924)

Belgian violinist, composer and teacher (b. 9 March 1847 [N.S.] in Jupille-sur-Meuse; d. 21 October 1924 [N.S.] in Paris).

Marsick appeared as the soloist in the first performance in France of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto (though apparently only of the first movement) at a concert conducted by Tchaikovsky at the Châtelet in Paris on 28 February/11 March 1888 [1].

Correspondence with Tchaikovsky

No letters from Tchaikovsky to Martin Pierre Marsick are known, but 2 undated letters from Marsick to the composer are preserved in the Tchaikovsky State Memorial Musical Museum-Reserve at Klin (a4, Nos. 2383–2384).
