Sevastopol (Севастополь) is a Ukrainian port and resort city on the Black Sea coast, in the Sevastopol municipal district (Севастопольська міська рада) of the republic of Crimea (Республіка Крим).

During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it was the administrative centre of the Simferopol district (Симферольский уезд), in the Taurida province (Таврическая губерния) of the Russian Empire.

Tchaikovsky stayed with his friend Yuliya Shpazhinskaya at Sevastopol from 10/22 July to 11/22 July 1887.
