Sorrento is a coastal town in the Naples (Napoli) province and Campania region of Italy.

During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it was part of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (Regno delle Due Sicilie), before becoming part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861.

Tchaikovsky in Sorrento

Tchaikovsky stayed at Sorrento with Modest Tchaikovsky and Nikolay Konradi from 13/25 March–16/28 March 1882.

During his visit he walked through the town "without stopping, enraptured" [1].
