Vyborg (Выборг) is a town on the Baltic coast of in the Russian Federation, and the administrative centre of Vyborg district (Выборгский район) in Leningrad oblast (Ленинградская область).
During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it was the administrative centre of Vyborg province (Выборгская губерния) in the Grand Duchy of Finland, within the Russian Empire.

Tchaikovsky travelled from Saint Petersburg to Vyborg with his brother Anatoly in early/mid June 1867, at the start of their summer holiday in Finland [1].
