Lyonya, my dear fellow!

I've had no luck in Naples. Firstly, because the weather is foul the whole time, and secondly, because I was robbed so much in the villa that I rented that I'll never forget it. Now I'm living at the Hôtel Metropole; it's further along the same street with the Pension d'Orient where you lived, on the other side; but our window overlooks the sea, and just in front of us is the egg castle that you probably remember. So far we haven't taken any long walks; just today we tried to go to Herculaneum, but the wind was so awful and the dust was such a terrible nuisance that the walk wasn't enjoyable, but rather pure torture.

Lyonya! Anatoly very much wants me to be at his wedding, and I can't help but go. So, I'll make it to Moscow earlier than I thought, i.e. by the Annunciation. I'll be glad to see you, my golubchik!

Lyonichka! You ask about Sasha Sangursky. He's a very sweet and quite decent boy. He's like you, i.e. he's never bored, always busy with something, loves cleanliness and order very much. Like everyone from Little Russia, he's very unsociable and taciturn, but that's not the end of the world. Kolya loved him terribly for his orderliness and cleanliness. He'll probably be staying with them. He doesn't miss Kamenka in the least, and he seems to have become very attached to Modest, Kolya and me.

I think that you received my little note with the address? Write to me here 2 or 3 more times, before the happy moment when we meet.

I hug you warmly, my golubchik. Give my regards to your brother Misha when you see him.

Yours P. Tchaikovsky
