Cher Monsieur!

P. Tschaikovsky

Dear Sir!

Please excuse me for having taken so long to reply to you [1]. Various reasons have conspired to prevent me from giving you a more or less definite answer. Now I think I shall be in a position to come around the beginning of March to Amsterdam [2]. Will you not inform me, dear sir, of the exact date of the concert a few weeks beforehand?

Until I have the great pleasure of shaking your hand, please accept my best regards.

P. Tchaikovsky

Notes and References

  1. Willem Kes's letter of invitation to Tchaikovsky has not survived.
  2. Owing to Tchaikovsky's death on 25 October/6 November 1893 his planned visit to Amsterdam never took place.
