Tchaikovsky in Lyons
Tchaikovsky stayed at Lyons on two occasions:
|27 June/9 July 1876||1/13 July 1876||Visiting his brother Modest at 3 Place Perrache. Modest was in Lyons in order to study a system of sonic speech that would facilitate better communication with his deaf-mute pupil Nikolay Konradi, then just eight years old.|
|12/24 July 1876||14/26 July 1876||Returning to Lyons after twelve days at nearby Vichy, the composer set out with Modest Tchaikovsky, Nikolay Konradi and the child's governess Sofya Yershova for a journey by steamship down the Rhône to Montpellier.|
