Marseilles (Marseille) is the third-largest city in France, and is the administrative centre of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, and of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.

Tchaikovsky visited Marseilles on two occasions:

| 4/16 April 1889 | 4/16 April 1889 | After a concert engagement in London, Tchaikovsky boarded a steamship at Marseilles in order to visit his brother Anatoly in Tiflis. |
