			Regarding the course of my romance, which as you know started in the winter, I'll tell you that it's doubtful I'll be entering into the bonds of Hymen; this whole affair is starting to become somewhat complicated; it's still premature to explain the details now; maybe I'll tell you when I see you.

			Lizaveta Vasilyevna is here. I saw her once when I had dinner at Katerina Vasilyevna's. Dimochka is feeling better. To tell the truth, the Davydov branch in [[Moscow]] is something of a burden for me. Я теперь в больших хлопотах. «Воевода» ставится; каждый день репетиции, и я едва нахожу время успевать везде, где нужно; этим объясняется и моё долгое молчание. Опера идёт покамест плохо, но все относятся к ней с большим старанием, так что можно надеяться на порядочные результат. Меньшикова будет очень хороша; особенно хорошо она поёт во 2-м действии песню «Соловушко громко свищет»! Тенор также очень недурён, но бас плох. Если опера сойдёт хорошо, я постараюсь устроить, чтоб Вы оба приехали в Москву на масленице.
