Нездоровье до сих пор задерживает меня в Питере. Вот уже несколько дней не выхожу из комнаты и не могу уехать. Так как все считают меня уехавшим, то не вижу никого, кроме самых близких, и потому не особенно страдаю, но неприятно, что время проходит даром. Болезнь моя преоригинальная: это какой-то исполинский насморк, длящийся уже две недели и сопряжённый с головной болью, с тошнотой, рвотой и т. п. прелестями. Прости, что никому из Вас не писал и не пишу. Я вообще совершенно утратил способность здесь писать письма, и до-шло да того, что я Над[ежде] Фил[аретовне] целый месяц не мог заставить себя написать две строчки. Ох, как мне не по натуре эта жизнь в столицах! Таню изредка вижу. Она на всех производит очень приятное впечатление своим бодрым видом и весёлостью.

Лёвушка! У меня к тебе просьба. Вели Степану отыскать мою ''жёлтенькую записную книжечку'' с которой я все это лето бродил на прогулках. На ней почти вся моя опера, и она мне ''необходима''. Книжечку эту пошли Юргенсону, который мне её перешлёт туда, где я поселюсь, ибо я сам ещё не знаю, где буду находиться. Пожалуйста, исполни все это скорее; без этой книжечки пропала моя опера. Так досадно, что Степан не догадался её мне положить при укладке.

Всем Вам шлю мои поздравления и пожелания на новый год. Поцелуй голубушку Саню, которой от глубины души желаю облегчения от недугов; всех детей, начиная от милой соседки Анюты до Уки, нежно, нежно прижимаю к сердцу (Бобика целую несколько с большею крепостью, — уж не могу иначе), но, впрочем, всех вас я ужасна люблю. Нату обнимаю. Если вздумаешь написать, то пока адресуй Юргенсону.
