My life is organised as follows: I rise at 8 o'clock, light a fire in the hearth, wash myself, and sit down to drink tea and read the newspaper. I work until 12 o'clock; go to a restaurant for lunch, walk until 2.30, come home, work again until six, go to the same restaurant for dinner, and always spend the evening at the theatre. This is a very pleasant life and, most importantly, it is good because I don't have to visit anyone, and no-one and nothing interferes with my work. When [[Modest]] arrives, we'll stay here for a few more days, and then we'll leave for Italy, but you can still write to me here, because we'll probably be staying another 2 weeks, and if we leave they will send the letter on. 	Ох, Лёня, голубчик! Как давно я не писал тебе! Прости, ради Бога, — сам не знаю, как это случилось. Я выехал 28-го числа из Петербурга, 2 дня провёл в Берлине и вот уже около недели живу здесь. Чувствую себя очень хорошо и даже не особенно скучаю своим одиночеством, благодаря тому, что в Париже всегда весело живётся. Впрочем скоро приедет сюда Модест и, вероятно, в надежде скоро с ним увидиться я не тоскую. А то ведь, пожалуй, было бы тяжело одному, без тебя. Живу скромно в небольшом отеле, около бульвара, в самом высоком этаже и плачу за хорошенькую, но очень холодную комнатку 5 фр[анков] в день. Занимаюсь очень усердно, и это меня радует; ужасно много времени пропало у меня в Москве и Петербурге. Ну, ездил ли ты в деревню? Я оттого тебе из Питера на праздниках не писал, что считал тебя в деревне. Теперь уж, вероятно, ты опять в казармах. Жизнь моя ~~уст роилась~~ так: встаю в 8 часов, растапливаю камин, моюсь и сажусь пить чай и читать газету.
