Мои мечты попасть в Италию не исполнились. Модест приехал не один, а с племянницей Татьяной Львовной, которой нужно здесь лечиться, и довольно долго, так что придётся прожить до весны в Париже. Итак, мой милый, адресуй свои письма сюда, а чтобы ты имел у себя адрес, ещё раз напомню его: ''France, Paris, Rue Richepanse, Hôtel Richepanse, Mr. Pierre Tschaikowsky''.

Мне очень невесело, что не придётся побывать в моем милом Риме, куда меня так тянуло. Я очень люблю Париж, но не надолго. Здесь слишком шумно и суетливо. Но делать нечего. Таня очень больна, и лечиться ей необходимо, — а кроме нас двух, некому сопровождать её. Модест немножко тоскует о своём Коле, с которым ему придётся целых 3 месяца быть в разлуке, но Париж ему нравится и почти ежедневно он бывает в театре. Летом я мечтаю жить около Москвы где-нибудь в деревне или на даче, — но не знаю, хватить ли у меня денег, чтобы жить самому, на свой счёт. Вероятно, придётся гостить у кого-нибудь. Но во всяком случае не хочу все лето прожить в Каменке, которая мне очень надоела.

Прощай, моя радость, прости, что пишу кое-как, очень тороплюсь.
