Теперь мне очень интересно будет узнать, как Тани встретилась с мамой в Карлсбаде, как доехала до Каменки и вообще как себя чувствует. Боюсь очень её утруждать и пишу сегодня с этой целью к Лизав[eте] Мих[айловне], прося её подробно описать, как они ехали и вообще все, что у Вас происходит. Очень мне все это интересно. Дай Бог, чтобы к моему приезду все у Вас хорошо было. Часто мне бывает грустно, что я живу вдали от Вас, но утешаюсь тою мыслью, что теперь в Каменку наехало так много народу, что, пожалуй, оно даже и не в моем вкусе. Я предпочитаю вообще весну, осень и зиму для жизни у Вас. Одно только меня огорчает сильно, это что мальчиков я слишком мало буду видеть нынче, ибо приеду в Каменку уже в конце их пребывания там. Здесь очень, очень хорошо. Жизнь в Подушкине была бы очаровательна, если бы не гости, без коих дня не обходится, и не наши поездки по гостям, без чего также трудно обойтись. Вчерашний день, напр[имер], для меня весь пропал, так как пришлось провести его в Кунцеве у Коншина, и ещё много предстоит выездов, а уж этого я терпеть не могу. Толя и Параша производят самое отрадное впечатление согласием и взаимною любовью, украшающею их жизнь. Толя изменился во всех отношениях к лучшему; болезненная суетливость исчезла, — он стал покойнее и ровнее.
